The aim of any good charity or fundraising event is to offer participants a good time in return for raising money for a good cause.
Karen at Freedom Events is no stranger to charity events. She has raised thousand of pounds for charitable causes through such things as dinner dances, fashion shows, fundraising parties, barbecues, fairs, quiz nights and auctions. She is not afraid to approach celebrities to help give the event a higher profile.
One of her most notable charity events took place in January of 2005 - the Uckfield Tsunami Appeal - With only three weeks notice Karen was instrumental in the amazing success of the Grand Auction of Promises, raising in the region of £17K to help rebuild lives in Sri-Lanka, providing new homes and fishing boats for survivors on the tsunami-stricken island.
BBC reporter John Young kindly agreed to appear as MC for the grand occasion, and local TV weather girl Natalie Brooker stepped in to lend a hand. A great time was had by all, and many people went home that night with treasures such as balloon rides, holidays and signed celebrity memorabilia.
