That's right - I've decided to enter the 2008 'Race For Life', a 5km run (or walk!) in aid of Cancer Research. It's the UK's largest women-only fundraising event.
I plan to take part in the Brighton event on Sunday 22nd June, at Stanmer Park, and will raise funds in loving memory of my wonderful Uncle John, a lovely man who lost his cancer battle a few years ago.
I also want to do it to show support to friends and colleagues who have had their lives affected by the 'Big C' at some stage. Like many taking part, it's also a positive way for me to attempt to get fit over the coming weeks. A great way of giving me a target whilst helping a great cause at the same time...
I'll have my good friends Sue, Sharon and Helen at my side on the day, and we plan to give it our all!
This year the charity hopes to raise £50 million to support the work of their scientists, doctors and nurses and help find new ways of preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. Whilst my contribution will be just a drop in the ocean, I'm hoping to raise as much money as I possibly can. That's where you come in!
If you would like to support me through sponsorship, you can do so via any of the following methods:
- Online via the official Race For Life Website - click here
- By signing my paper sponsorship form next time you see me in person.
Whatever you can afford, no matter how small the amount, can help make a difference.
Thank you so much. Wish me luck!
